- Munich to host around 800 professionals from across the globe in September 2026
- Theme: Beyond Boundaries – Cross-Competence Enhancement of Aeromedical Services
- Lectures, discussions, and hands-on workshops at two venues
Munich/Cologne. Registration for the AirMed World Congress 2026 is now open. From September 16th to 18th, 2026, international experts in Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) and Air Ambulance operations will gather in Munich. After 46 years, the AirMed World Congress returns to its place of origin.
Organized by ADAC Luftrettung on behalf of EHAC (European HEMS and Air Ambulance Committee), the event provides a forum for physicians, paramedics, nurses, pilots, technical staff, managers, industry partners, and key decision-makers. It offers space to exchange knowledge, share best practices, and explore future trends together.
During the HEMS Day at European Rotors in Cologne, Dr. Matthias Ruppert, Chief Medical Officer of ADAC HEMS Academy (a subsidiary of ADAC Luftrettung responsible for training and education), together with Stefan Becker, President of EHAC, officially announced the start of registration and ticket sales for the AirMed World Congress 2026.
In his statement, Dr. Ruppert encouraged participation:
“AirMed 2026 uniquely combines theory and practice. Two different venues allow us to offer both expert lectures and numerous hands-on workshops. Scientific insights and operational experience can thus be perfectly interlinked. AirMed aims to be a catalyst for shaping the future of aeromedical services together.”
The event is the world’s leading congress for everyone involved in Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) or Air Ambulance Services. Around 800 professionals from all over the world are expected to foster interdisciplinary dialogue. Target groups include stakeholders from established air ambulance and air rescue services as well as representatives from regions at the beginning of implementing such systems.
Under the theme “Beyond Boundaries: Cross-Competence Enhancement of Aeromedical Services”, the congress will address cross-sector challenges and diverse participant needs. The approximately 50 sessions and 70 workshops cover a broad range of topics – from quality management in air rescue operations to the key competencies of HEMS crews and hands-on exercises on connectivity in telemedicine.
The BERGSON Art Center in Munich will host lectures and dynamic discussions in an inspiring setting. The second venue, the newly opened ADAC Luftrettung Campus in Oberpfaffenhofen near Munich, will focus on practical training. Its infrastructure enables mission simulations and other specialized training scenarios.
Beyond medical perspectives, the program will include discussions on ethical dilemmas, organizational leadership, and the integration of new technologies such as drones and simulation-based mission training. Another highlight will be EHAC’s 25th anniversary celebration during the Opening Event on September 16th 2026 at Munich’s Hofbräuhaus.
Participants can also take advantage of an exclusive course program on Saturday, September 19th 2026, including an excursion to the ADAC Crashtest Center in Landsberg, showcasing developments in automotive technology and their impact on technical rescue and emergency care.
Registration and ticket sales for the AirMed World Congress 2026 are now open. All registered participants will automatically receive a newsletter starting November 25, keeping them informed about everything leading up to the congress.
